<p>Positives:<br />
* Cleaner than most other forms of electricity generation.<br />
* I think they look lovely.<br />
* The land around them can still be used for farming.</p>
<p>Negatives:<br />
* A huge area of land is needed to produce more than a negligible amount of electricity.<br />
* Unreliable &#8211; the wind will not always blow, will not always blow the right way, etc.<br />
* It generates electricity that is decoupled from demand &#8211; the wind does not stop blowing when industrial activity stops for the night, for example. Storage methods for power generated in excess of demand are limited by the technology available.<br />

* The manufacture of parts, and shipping of the parts, for turbines consumes some resources.<br />
* NIMBYism &#8211; no one seems to want a big wind turbine in their area, but they all want the benefits.</p>
