Anybody know where I can download some windmill plans, or even better information about vertical wind generators from the Internet for free.

how big?
having worked for a fan company for a few years, might i suggest that the last thing you want is a big fan that is turning fast.
when you make ‘em yourself, it’s impossible to get the balance right.
and a large spinning mass is a lethal combination.
if that’s not enough, consider the lawsuit that would come your way when you hurt someone.
i saw what a 5′ blade could do when it was out of balance.
cut through a 2×4.
and that had been relatively well balanced.
really, this could be a very bad idea.
